The MN Private Colleges Job & Internship Fair is a great way to interact with employers and recruiters and practice your elevator pitch in a supportive, low-risk environment.
It's your opportunity to get to know organizations and who they hire, find job and internship leads, and arrange interviews.
We expect more than 250 employers from nonprofit, government, science, business and other sectors.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Fair is held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Wednesday, February 22 from 9am to 3pm. Scheduled interviews are held on Thursday, February 23.
Who can attend?
Sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to attend.
I’m a sophomore. Why should I go to the fair?
Although most employers will have positions that are geared toward Juniors and Seniors, it is still helpful to attend the fair to get accustomed to the job fair atmosphere, get your attire, update your resume and practice your professional presentation to employers.
How do I register?
- Submit a copy of your resume for review by emailing it as a PDF attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- After it's been reviewed, upload your resume on the Fair website.
- Pay the nonrefundable $10 registration fee online before Feb. 10.
Why must I submit my resume to the CDC?
We want to help you make the best possible first impression you can!
Why should I register early and upload my resume over winter break?
Recruiters will be looking at the uploaded resumes in the weeks prior to the fair to select candidates for interview slots.
How many students will be at the fair?
Usually the fair attracts 2,000 students.
How long should I plan to attend the fair?
We recommend planning to attend the fair for several hours, and also budget time for travel to and from Minneapolis. We recommend arriving in the morning, and attending panels.
What should I wear? Do I really need a suit?
Yes. Dress should be professional. You are showing the employer that you know how to present yourself. You want to be remembered for your skills and professionalism -- not for your appearance.
Will there be transportation to and from the fair?
Yes. Macalester will offer free shuttles throughout the day on Wednesday. If you choose to drive yourself to the fair, we cannot reimburse parking expenses. Transportation will not be offered on the second day of the fair, February 23 (interview-only day).
What employers will be there?
Review the list of organizations attending. Here, you can find out if they will be collecting resumes or interviewing on-site, have openings or are currently recruiting for positions.
Will employers hire international students?
Yes. Filter the list of employers attending by choosing "Show only organizations that will hire international students."
My dream employer is attending! What should I do?
Send a cover letter and resume and let them know you’ll be attending Minnesota’s Private College Job & Internship Fair. Ask to be interviewed during the fair. Employers will contact you directly to schedule.
Find out more about organizations, open positions, who they're hiring and contact info on the MPCC Job and Internship Fair website.
